The group Tierra got its start in 2002, playing together at a local church in Holland, MI. Finding a sound all their own wasn’t hard. Almost all the songs they learned were originals written by Daniel Niño, the band’s leader. Israel Ruiz (bass guitar) has been with the band since it started, as well as Marcel Arocha (electric guitar) who joined the band in 2005. Other members include Kelvin Vasquez (drummer), Israel Garcia (percussion) Brian Perbolt (keyboard) and Raul Garcia (drummer) who now resides in Tulsa, Oklahoma.In the summer of 2006, Tierra traveled to Ecuador, South America for a 2-week tour. This was where they released their self-titled EP, including 5 original songs. And in August 2008 they released their full length album. Their popularity has been growing quickly, and more opportunities to travel to Latin America are securing this band’s future. Local shows are always favorites for the band, which has also given them a chance to build a fan base.
