The Kings of Leon are Southern boys through and through, and their debut EP, Holy Roller Novocaine, is a gritty dose of high lonesome simplicity and classic rock swagger. From the wild honky tonk sound of Wasted Time to the blues-tinged Molly's Chambers, Kings of Leon aim to give a rowdy presentation. As musicians, the four-piece is carefree, but structured. Caleb Followill's lazy, warm drawl is a polished fit to the band's feel-good sound. California Waiting, surely a standout with its sunny appeal, radiates Kings of Leon's desire to keep things strictly rock & roll. Holy Roller Novocaine is a decent first effort from these young sonnies from Nashville and certainly an exciting look at what's yet to come.
