Most unique death metal band I’ve heard in a long time. You don’t come by that many bands that do what they do. Wayd is an oddity in the metal world. They got a knack for incorporating odd rhythms and emotional jazz with technical superiority. It’s like Cynic meets Cryptopsy meets Gordian Knot. Every perfect song is different and has its own identity. It’s a real shame I don’t hear much rave reviews about these guys. They deserve more praise from metal fans or music fans in general for that matter. Aggressive growls you can understand, velvet smooth texture, epic song structure, use of horns, wacky grooves, lyrics concerning life (rather than random gore shit), sentimental atmosphere, unpredictable twists; all these qualities are what makes Wayd so special. Sometimes they even bring in Spanish flavored guitar solos. Decadence is a flawless album that has good re-play value. It will leave you with catchy harmonies ringing in your head that you just can’t get enough of. Just that one song, “Waiting for the sun”, is worth purchasing this thing. I feel warm and fuzzy every time I hear it. And that last track, “Breaking the Ascendence” is the type of song you play in a prom. The only track with clean singing too. This is a band with a serious sense of class.- megafury, May 15th, 2004
