Washington Lane is a dancy, pop-based rock band hailing from the foothills of North Carolina. Since forming in 2004, Washington Lane has shared the stage with many national acts including Dropping Daylight and Bandcamp. After the release of their first EP, Awake for the Dream, WL developed a loyal internet fan-base and started playing numerous shows around the state to begin honing their skills as a live band. Their dedication paid off in October, 2005 when they beat out over 30 bands in a statewide battle of the bands competition held at Charlotte’s Tremont Music Hall. In 2006, they were voted one of MTVu’s top 25 college bands, making it to the semi-finals in their Best Music on Campus contest. Ross Martin, head of programming for MTVu: “Washington Lane is high energy with an authentic voice. They feel very at the moment and their songs are really honest!” As Nick and Thomas left their teens, they also left behind some of their preconceived notions of what music should sound like. As a result, WL’s sound matured into a more sophisticated style while still retaining its youthful edge. In October, 2006 they headed to Chicago to work with producer Marc McClusky (Hit the Lights, Ludo, Allister) to ensure that their new songs would be represented as WL had intended. Washington Lane is currently preparing to tour for spring\u002Fsummer of 2006
