We Caught The CastleTime To GrowI can already see the cries of ‘Oh no, another female-fronted pop-punk band’ when the rock scene starts to get wind of Reading based outfit We Caught The Castle. Well, it should only take a quick spin of their debut album, Time To Grow, to see that there is more to these kids than just Paramore rip-offs.Having caught them in a local venue last year supporting rising stars Lower Than Atlantis, it was clear then that there was something intriguing about this band so we’re pleased to report that their debut album shows off their quirky sound more than adequately. Basically what we’re trying to say is that, if you go into listening to Time To Grow expecting just a.n.other female pop-punk band, you’ll be sorely disappointed. In fact, as the likes of Patterns shudders into life, it becomes quite apparent why they were asked to open for Lower Than Atlantis. Heavy in places but yet haunting, melodic and emotional at times, tracks like Home and the jangly Summer go plenty way to setting this lot miles apart from the rest of the UK scene and with the sugary Lips already a live favourite with their growing local fanbase, Time To Grow certainly indicates a bright future ahead for this Reading quintet.Every so often the rock scene throws up a band who like to turn the scene on its axis and throw out something of a curveball. Sure, there are moments where bands like Paramore do pop into your thoughts but, on the whole, there is so much more to Time To Grow making it quite a special album from a band who clearly give the rock scene that something extra.
