Blame Ringo is an indie band, born out of a desire to emulate relevant musical heroes and put a modern spin on the legacies of those who came before. If David Crosby didn’t have a drinking problem, and maybe if Paul Simon was a foot taller, they’d fit right into Blame Ringo. Originally billed as “Goodnight Vienna”, the band had to change its name in late 2007 after being threatened with legal action by a Mr Richard Starkey Jr. Apparently Goodnight Vienna was the name of Ringo Starr’s forth studio album and, although Ringo “thoroughly enjoyed the music”, he was “obligated to any profiteering which resulted from the use of his intellectual property.” What a bastard. Now the ironically named ‘Blame Ringo’ uses three part hamonies and award winning* drumming (Tony Garrett from the Boatpeople) to spread the word about Ringo’s dastardly ways and promote whispers from audiences that include such nuggets as, “Wow, I like that song”, and the ever popular, “Wow, that song was really good”. The band’s debut album, “Luck Number 9” has just been released through the conspiracy site, www.blameringo.com, and is available at selected retailers. *may or may not be award winning
