Bass player Chuck Dukowski wrote some of Black Flack's most indelible songs, co-owned and worked for the influential SST label in the 1980s and '90s, and played with several excellent bands in the years since, In 2006 he released this album of challenging, often hypnotic songs with his sextet. Vocal chores are handled by Dukowski's wife, visual artist Lora Norton, whose gutsy singing touches on blues, folk, and punk in a thoroughly unique amalgam. The songs churn and thrash, funky one minute and punky the next. Dukowski's bass lines are pure liquid funk, and Lynn Johnston (formerly of SST band Slovenly) provides sax and clarinet parts that jazz up the works.
