Everyone loves a winning team. The enthusiasm runs rampant from the screaming fans shouting encouragement and whooping it up in the stands to the splendidly triumphant, go-team-go fervor of marching band music. The All-American Band reflects this team spirit in twelve rousing selections that capture the glory of fielding a winnning team, the spectacular gridiron action and scoring thrills, and the ultimate power of ‘Marching To Victory.’ Radio and television broadcasters have done much to increase Football’s popularity throughout the nation, so the All-American Band marches onto the field with broad, sweeping melodies and peppy rhythms that honor The Broadcaster. Two marches by the noted bandmaster Karl L. King follow. Pageantry calls to mind the colorful glitter and impressive flourish of pre-game and half-time shows. Royal Scotch Highlanders is a fast-moving entry that dispenses an unrelenting do-or-die spirit. The title tune, Marching To Victory becomes a stirring tribute to the courage, competition and conquest that marks every pigskin season. Liberta is a stimulating reminder of one of our most prized possessions, and the side closes wit the collegiate-favorite Winning Colors, performed with zest and gusto and expressing all the joy of a last-minute game-saving touchdown. A panorama of football through the years is unfurled in Ye Olden Days, a brisk interpretation in modern instrumentation. Then, the All-American Band salutes those eye-catching majorettes who are a vital part of every marching band in The Twirlers. The Color Bearer is a real flag-waver, and the swashbuckling Cavalier may pertain to the 'Blue and Gold of Virginia' or to any outstanding gridiron hero. The Spirit Of Democracy which prevails throughout our academic institutions finds its way onto the playing field in the form of team spirit and sportsmanship... admirable qualities honored by a dashing march. The album concludes with Flight Commander, a spit-and-polish post-game march that pays tribute to all those who participated in the day’s gridiron activities.
