about HULAHOOPS HULAHOOPS is a slice of astro boogie like no other, and has been piping out of the bridge speakers on board the Alpha Apollo 99 for some time. Moxo, along with fellow crew members Curtis Mayfield, Prince, Sun Ra, Edwin Birdsong, Raymond Scott, Brian Bennet, Bilal Abdurahman, and Dr Bob Moog, has been charting off the orbit of Saturn, and their Zero Gravity parties have been a hit with humans and aliens alike especially those freaky Atlantean girls, who just wanna go all night long! HULAHOOPS has become something of an anthem at these inter-planetary love-ins, with its syrupy bassline, gravity-defying keys and its shruggin lurch of a beat. Moxo uses the track to tell a story of dreams, waist-winding, and general confusion as to why his heart has been turned upside-down, delivered in his best soul falsetto from beyond the stars. SURRA comes with a deep space mix on the flip, designed to modulate your whole body - the kind of sh*t that real Saturn G's bump in their rides. This 7 is a taster for the MOXO TENGU album that will be coming out on OTHER WORLDS early next year. about MOXO TENGU Every self-respecting Martian Casanova wants to roll with MOXO and his crew. After all, its not every day you get to meet a real live laboratory escapee in the flesh. What should have been a routine space walk became a close encounter with the next world when Max Coles connection cable snapped and he was left drifting through the infinite sea of stars. However, spotted by an enterprising DNA code programmer working at the Institute of Intergalactic Jazz, he was subjected to a programme of radiation to the soundtrack of Drexciya, Glenn Jones and Cedric Im Brooks. The end result was some cosmic p-funk lover type sh*t, and came to be dubbed MOXO TENGU. It was soon apparent that the Institute couldnt hold him, and Moxo danced his way past the laboratory guards to start the rest of his new life breakin across the universe. about SURRA DJing Drum & Bass in clubs at the ripe age of 15, SURRA started disobeying the rules early on. Finding influences from such a variety of musicians like Erik Satie, Terry Riley, Delia Derbyshire, 4 Hero, Sun Ra and IG Culture, Surra has recently brought his Bruk-Tech-Rican styles to labels and hedz like AMALGAMA and BEYONDJAZZ. Constantly looking to broaden his sound in all directions, Surra is now on an expedition to the furthest frequencies, a full on frequo-naut searching for the deeper messages of beauty and spirituality within his music.
