Floorman is the alter-ego of DJ & producer, Tony Global. Six years ago, he retired from club promotion to concentrate on production work, releasing a number of tracks in a variety of guises for Peace Feast, Tummy Touch and Breakdown Recordings. A track written with old friend B Kristiansen proved a turning-point, winning him two lucrative TV ads in the USA (for Hewlett Packard and Rooms To Go). The song was penned in twenty minutes after Tim Love-Lee asked for some material for his TouchTones 7 label. With the glow of success on his face and a few notes in the bank, he invested time and money in his Hedley Park Studio, concentrating on finding the right vintage equipment to satiate his beard stroking needs and achieve the classic sounds hed grown up with valve mixing boards, reel to reel tape decks, analogue... Fast forward to 2006 and with a renewed hunger to work on his own material came the introduction to Secret Stealths Australian vocalist; Holly Backler. Read More » trio had struck a rich vein of song writing together, and soon all thoughts of other singers and instrumental tracks were kicked to the curb. The idea of a Nottingham supergroup was born (with tongue in cheek and hand on thigh), and Stack came into being, bringing with it a number of participants including members of the almighty Crazy P live band. The project became a mission to source authentic sounds; re-creating the 70s-era sounds reminiscent of diverse sonic influences such as Stevie Wonder, The Who, Bernard Edwards & Nile Rogers, to name a few. By early 2007 there were already too many tracks for one album, so it was decided to keep some material back for the next and concentrate on releasing an entire album of songs featuring Holly Backler on vocals, which has proved in Floormans opinion to be a good decision: For the first time I can honestly say that a project has turned out better than I had anticipated.
