Hot off the heels of the well received debut release from Crackerz and Jam with their ‘Big Up Girl’ \u002F ‘This One’ release which received great reviews frm both DJMag & Mixmag, Up:Start Music are back slingin’ great music your way this time in the form of The Versus EP. Up:Start’s main man Mr D-Funk has teamed up with a couple of other uber-hot producer types & between them they have delivered 2 slices of dirty but lovely music goodness… First up is ‘Get Ramped Up’ which see D-Funk team up with Hariku. (He’s the guy who remixed ‘Serious Shit’ on our 2nd release. A Remix that went Beatport Electro House top 10 & DJDownload all genre top 5 for 4 weeks!). ‘Get Ramped Up’ is a genre-straddling piece of electronic cheekiness, that sits somewhere in between Electro, Tech House, Techno & Breaks. We guess some may call it tech-funk. Anyways it’s a beast of a track that chops & changes throughout. It’s got a very memorable vocal in the breakdown that will definitely turn heads on the dance floor. Nuff said! Next up is ‘Attitude’ which sees D-Funk teaming up with Alien Nation. Although Alien Nation is a new name this guy has been around for ages as part of the brains behind amazing live breaks act Freefall Collective & more recently as half of Rogue Robots. ‘Attitude’ is more of a straight break beat number with heavy bass & funky wah wah guitar licks. It’s got solids beats, great little FX edits & a killer switch up bassline! It’s been blowing the roof off every time it’s been played so far & will definitely keep the breaks faithful more than happy!
