After a period of chart dormancy, Puffy Combs's Bad Boy label made a chart comeback with teen female quartet Dream's first single, He Loves U Not. A catty, canny update of the time-tested petal-plucking romance guide, it's also something of a red herring on It Was All a Dream, the group's debut album. Although the disc is a well-made pop-R&B showcase for the girls' technically adept voices, the four have yet to develop a sound beyond competence; Destiny's Child they're not (yet). More bite along the lines of He Loves U Not and less helpless yearning (the unconvincing Pain, the blinder-wearing I Don't Like Anyone) would've made this Dream feel a lot closer to reality.
