Raiven Hunter is a music artist/composer/arranger/producer from South Africa specializing in saxophone and keyboard performance as well as electronic music production. Besides taking a residency at Popsicle Studios as the in-house studio engineer, he is also a regular session musician with top South African acts and an avid producer starting out in the field of live electronic performance.
Born and raised in Cape Town, Raiven started playing the piano and saxophone at the age of 10 at the South African College Schools (SACS) after developing an early interest in the music that surrounded him. Throughout his school career he would be involved in a number of musical ensembles and leadership positions therein, culminating in the acceptance to the Standard Bank National Schools Big Band at the age of 14 and furthermore at the age of 16 he was the second youngest member of the Standard Bank National Youth Big Band in 2004.
In 2006, Raiven was accepted to the South African College of Music at the University of Cape Town to study a Bachelor of the Arts (Jazz Performance, Film and Media), placing on the Dean’s Merit List three times and securing the 1st Tenor Saxophone spot in Mike Campbell’s Big Band for 6 years. During the tenure at University he broadened his horizons by starting a career as a live performer and session musician - featuring with acts such as:

In the field of electronic music Raiven is relatively new, however the spirit was fostered early within him as a young person growing up being exposed to Tricky, Morcheeba, Portishead, Faithless, Fatboyslim and the Chemical Brothers in the 90s as well as Daft Punk, Pendulum, Justice, Basement Jaxx and Groove Armada in the 00s.
With influences ranging from French House through to Trap music, Raiven’s productions are always varied yet incredibly melodic and easy to listen to, garnering him a modest 100,000 Soundcloud plays and over 1000 downloads.
