aving only formed as a band this year, narrative folk four-piece Salvation Bill are making quite an impression on the local music circuit. Then again, frontman Ollie Thomas is hardly new to gigging in Oxfordshire. His previous band, ute, was a much-loved staple of the local scene, bristling with potential until its untimely demise at the close of 2011. 
 
“It was a real struggle when I first started ute,” explains Ollie, 28, from Cowley. “It took a long time to get anything going. We played the same gigs for about a year without it going anywhere. It was really hard, until we started getting to know people. When we joined (local independent record label) Alcopop!, we got asked to play loads of shows with other bands.
