Lauren Parfidio has been singing since the tender age of three, when she would ask her parents to play "The Wizard of Oz" video so that she could sing “Follow the Yellow Brick Road”. At the age of 13, she knew singing was her passion and began taking vocal lessons.
At fourteen, Lauren landed a leading role in her school’s rendition of “Godspell,” marking her first on stage vocal solo. The power and beauty in this young girl’s voice caught everyone’s attention and she was asked to sing “Wind Beneath my Wings” at her eighth grade graduation, where she received a standing ovation.
In the spring of 2003, Lauren was accepted in to Talent Unlimited High School in Manhattan; she was one of only twenty-three accepted across New York’s five boroughs. Soon after, she won the audition for Young People’s Chorus and performed with them at various locations across Manhattan including Carnegie Hall, The Today Show, and the Waldorf Astoria. During these high school years, Lauren began pursuing her career as a solo artist by recording original songs, working with producer/writer Drew Ferrante (Jesse McCartney).
Lauren’s exuberant personality and radiant talent were clear to all those who had seen her perform. At nineteen, she started singing with “Juicy”, one of the hottest cover bands in Atlantic City, NJ, performing at venues such as Foxwoods, Bally’s, Tropicana and the Trump Marina.
Her talent is not limited to singing; Lauren has studied acting at Stella Adler in Manhattan and dance at Broadway Dance Center. She was the featured vocalist on the dance track “Stranger From the Sky” which immediately went into rotation on New York radio station Pulse 87.7 FM when it was released.
Taking her career to the next level, Lauren has been co-writing songs with multi platinum writer/producer Matt Noble (Rihanna, Shontelle, Rod Stewart, Michael Jackson) and Billboard Top Five Dance Chart producer Paul Wonder (Reina, Judy Torres, Veronica). Her original songs include: “Single Life”, “All I Ever Wanted”, “Guilty Pleasure”, “Some Other Girl”, and her newest release “Just Me”.
During the summer of 2012 Lauren was asked to perform her original songs at various locations, such as Westchester’s Ridge Hill, Club Elements, and Kensico Dam throughout Westchester County in New York. She was also a featured artist on WFAS “Westchester’s Best Music Variety” radio station’s, website. The talented young singer has appeared with Vincent Pastore’s (also known as Big Pussy from the Sopranos) band, Crazy Horse All Stars.
Every Sunday at noon Lauren kicks off New York’s AM 1230’s sports show, “Score Card”, by singing the National Anthem. She was asked to honor America by performing the National Anthem, live, at the World’s Most Famous Arena, Madison Square Garden, for the NIT Championship, the 2k Sports Classic, and their Holiday Festival. Lauren was also asked to sing the National Anthem for Minor League Baseball’s Brooklyn Cyclones, Rockland Boulders, and the Long Island Ducks, along with the NCAA’s Fordham University’s men’s basketball team.
On November 11, 2012 Lauren appeared on Empire City Casino’s Lucky Break, a new and upcoming singing competition on New York’s television station WLNY. Her astonishing voice won the judges over; she was advanced to the quarter finals and asked to close out the show with an encore performance.
Born and raised in the Bronx, NY, twenty-four year old Lauren has learned to be grateful for her talent, staying committed and enthusiastic about striving for her dreams.
"Like most musicians, I enjoy all different types of music..but I've always really loved pop/dance music..it brings together the freedom to sing like a diva while performing and dancing. Now that dance music has moved into the mainstream, I feel like this is..my time,” says Lauren.
