由2016年初成立至今，「海岛小轮」继续以新派室乐的旗号，制作属于香港本地的纯音乐。身处这个多元文化之地，「海岛小轮」透过发掘城市中的题材创作属于他们的音乐作品，曾先后推出两张专辑。 

「海岛小轮」于香港积极参与各类演出，曾于「wow and flutter 本地姜周末」及西九文化区「自由约」等活动中献奏。在2018年推出首张专辑《Crossings》时，更以网上集资方式举行多媒体音乐会「《渡》音乐 x 影像航行」，将现场音乐与由同时是乐队RubberBand主音的导演6号创作的短篇电影融合，两场演出全部门票售罄。

其后，「海岛小轮」开始前往海外演出，在2018年底于台北、台中、台南等地进行巡演。2019年参与日本冲绳举行的「樱坂ASYLUM音乐节」，并前往澳门演出。

2020年，「海岛小轮」推出第二张专辑《Telescope》，除了数位版本及CD外，亦首次以传统唱片 (LP) 的形式发表。在疫情和限聚令之下，团队举办了多次网上演出，亦争取到机会作数次实体表演。

在「海岛小轮」成立五周年的前夕，成员及乐器换上了目前(亦称为第三期)的阵容，除了创团成员方欣浩 (Arnold/钢琴) 和汤正行 (Tim/大提琴) 之外，加入了负责小提琴的李健强(Kenneth) 及单簧管的黄靖恩 (Gladys)。新的成员及乐器组合，让团队能在创作上探索更多未开发的境地。

Since its formation in 2016, Sea Island & Ferry has continued to create Hong Kong’s own brand of instrumental music as a "neo-chamber ensemble". The group’s location in this culturally diverse city has enabled its members to encounter the very themes that inspired its work, as heard in the two albums released to-date. 

Sea Island & Ferry played extensively in Hong Kong, including at such events as THE WEEKEND presented by wow and flutter and Freespace Happening at the West Kowloon Cultural District. The group released its first album Crossings in January 2018, and held its first crowdfunded multi-media performance in April, titled Crossings - Music X Films, collaborating with director 6 @ RubberBand on a series of short films inspired by music in the album. Both shows were sold out and warmly received by the audience. 

In the same year, Sea Island & Ferry started venturing out of their home base, first with their Crossings IN TAIWAN tour in Taipei, Taichung and Tainan. The group played in the Sakurazaka Asylum festival in Okinawa, Japan, as well as Macau in 2019.

In May 2020, Sea Island & Ferry released their second new album titled Telescope, which was also the ensemble’s first-ever vinyl LP release. Despite COVID-19 and distancing measures, the ensemble completed a series of online and offline performances to promote the album. 

On the eve of its 5th anniversary, Sea Island & Ferry renewed the group’s line up (now known as the Phase 3). Founding members Arnold Fang (Piano) and Tim Tong (Cello) were joined by new members Kenneth Li (Violin) and Gladys Wong (Clarinet).  The introduction of new instruments allows the ensemble to explore new horizons in its creations.
