Twin Pines Mall consists of Uno Møller (vocals, guitar and bass), from Norwegian Grammy Award winning Team Me, and Andreas Westhagen (vocals, guitar and drums) from the up and coming band Carnival Kids, which earlier this year was one of the finalists in the Norwegian «Urørt» Awards. The duo sprang into existence by chance when Uno and Andreas had an idea they might try to make and record some music together one sunny day in the summer of 2009. The two set up all their instruments and recording equipment in Uno's grandmother's old house. For some reason or other they decided to try to make hardcore songs, and the random countryside session eventually resulted in a five song EP, which was released in 2010.
Uno and Andreas started their own tradition making and recording music in these living room sessions and met up at the house a couple times a year, and so in 2012 the first album «Sporting Event» was released on their own label in cooperation with the British DIY-label Lazy Acre Records. Despite recording and releasing the album by themselves without any help from a professional studio or record label, it reached a lot of listeners and received great reviews. Among others the British music blog Circuit Sweet wrote: «This band is made up of dudes that spend most of their time playing silky voiced folk music, yet here they are screaming their lungs out on one of the best damn post-hardcore records of recent years!»
Twin Pines Mall did a few selected shows as a six-piece in 2012 and 2013. Among these were the Norwegian festivals Trondheim Calling and Volumfestivalen. The band was also invited to play alongside the legendary 90's band Sick of it All on the Nordic part of their European tour, which is to take place in December 2014. Unfortunately they had to decline, as both Uno and Andreas had previous engagements on the given dates.
The new album Solar Wind City is out February 2nd, 2015.
