The driving force of Prince of Assyria is the artist Ninos Dankha who was  brought to Sweden from Iraq by his family at the age of one. His debut album Missing Notes was an extremely well-received collection of ten moving melodic songs portraying resonating shades of joy and sadness from a life touched by love, longing and loss.
 
The new second album Changing Places finds Prince of Assyria’s brand of Swedish melancholy stripped back to its musical and poetic essence. The album is still an intense journey – you will be taken from uplifting joy to raw grief and back again. Be ready to fall in love and break-up all at the same time. Whether sensitive and vulnerable, or haunting and poetic, each song demands your full attention and grows in your heart over time. This is no dinner party music.
 
Dankha’s voice is complemented by the equally delicate musical voices of Jonatan Guzman (piano and vocal),Lidija Radmilac (viola), Christa Murley (backing vocals) Patric Thorman (bass and vocal) and Michael Wall (drums).
 
Dankha explains: “Each song starts with a particular state of mind – a specific emotion or experience that make us human. Like that feeling just before you cry, or when you want to but can’t. These particular feelings come and go, just as different associations make up the fabric of our everyday lives. It’s about how coming to terms with all these difficult emotions can be freeing, even cathartic. You remember the red car she used to drive. You are walking to the  bar and a red car passes by. You can tell the whole story with that red car. The  rest is just details. Everyone understands this – because everyone has their own story.”
