Special McKinley is a solo project of Syracuse University student, James Dean Gardner. 
James grew up in Western New York, on the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation. Influenced by music throughout most of his life, James went on to take vocal lessons and teach himself how to play bass and guitar during middle school. Since his time as a musician, James had been involved with writing, producing, and promoting his own music. 
2015 was a crucial year for James, releasing his debut studio album, an EP, and a single along with a handful of covers, with students of Syracuse University as his audience.
In mid-2015, James started writing and recording his sophomore album, The Colors Of Infinity, which is set to be released in the Spring of 2016.
James is largely influenced by electronic and post-punk rock acts, including Angels & Airwaves, U2, Coldplay, Night Riots, and The Killers.
