This song was inspired by a recent personal experience which I realized thereafter that I have so many shortcomings… that I was so determined to be better — not just for my future love of my life (if I am lucky enough to meet him); but for my family, friends, colleagues, and most importantly, for myself.  

Hence, the name of this song, which was first originally written in English: “I can’t wait to be a better me”.   

I am a firm believer that when we want to work on something hard enough, it will happen. Do not underestimate your ability to do anything, including wanting to improve yourself — no matter how tough it may be (considering one’s character is pretty much ‘set in stone’ as one matures). To quote a Chinese saying that I like from the movie ‘Nezha’: 你说了就算. It’s up to you to decide what you can or can’t do.  

So, I accept the pang that this experience had brought me; but at the same time, I do not want this pain to be in vain.  I have to be better. I want to be better. I will fail still on some days, many days; but keeping this broad arching theme in mind keeps me going even on the bad days.  

Ultimately, while this song may be about love, I trust it transcends to anything in your life. May it be a companion alongside a life of lessons and growth for you.
