Reverend Kill is a Tortured Soul. A Gunslinger in the Old West. He was hunted down and murdered running for his freedom through the rugged mountains. It took 43 mens lifes to fianally take him down. That is on top of all the Sinners lifes he took as well. But that was GODS WILL. He started out a preacher and a kind gentle soul. But the Old West soon hardened this kind man and threw him over the edge of sanity. Too many innocent people were hurt and killed. Too many women raped. Too many children slaughtered. He decided it was time to hurt back. The light at the end of the tunnel is out the window. Now it is the smoke at the end of the barrell at checkout time. Always remembering to embed a upside down cross in his victims foreheads and saying a few words to ensure their safe passage to HELL...
Reverend Kill came to life in the spring of 2004, formed by Don Stenhouse.
I sat alone with my drum machine and 8 track and started writing riffs that were nothing more than just cool laid back groovin' Metal. No certain direction or genre just Metal. After a couple months, I had more than enough tunes for a CD so I started the awesome task of getting a band going.
First off I met Matt Robson, a young guitarist/horror freak and we started ripping it up damn near every day for hours and hours. After a couple months Matt met Bassist Steve Withrow on the internet or something (likely some weird online dating thing). He took a listen to the tunes and liked them. Soon, he became a Calgarian and the Drunken Frontman for Reverend Kill. On drums we had help from a old friend of Don's from the Thorazine days Scott Tanner. This is the Lineup that recorded the first CD.
We ripped out a few killer shows before Scottie left the band to join Operation Wintermist (local Black Metal Godz). Matt also left to pursue education and other interests, possibly making some gory horror movies. That was Reverend Kill v1.
We started advertising for musicians when pretty much at the same time Vinnie Cardellini (drums) and Teran Wyer (guitar) came along, both kinda digging our style of Metal. They chose to become Reverend Kill.
In mid 2006, Steve got offered work out of town. This caused problems with being able to play and jam. This meant a big change was in store for us cause he was the voice. After trying out way too many vocalists, we came to realize clean vocals weren't for us. We sort of readjusted ourselves to become a Death Metal Band, seeing that none of us really listen to much with clean vocals any ways, and we don't want to be on the faggy radio either. We decided we are taking ourselves in a much Heavier direction and will continue to do so till the bitter end. After playing a few shows with screwed up lineups we found a Bassist named Kyle Farrell, ex-Injust, who came along, learned the tunes, got pumped and ready to go.
In the fall we met Graham Harris ex-Genepool. A singer from Scotland relocated to Calgary. Things sorta clicked right quick. He instantly started taking our tunes and working with them. We liked the results of his work. We basically went back to the drawing board on the next CD, restructuring all the songs and getting it all good with the new vocals.
Now with a new full lineup, we are ready to go again. Hopefully, people like the 2 Guitar attack can relate to the songs we have written. We are starting to play more shows and are itching to venture out on the road to other places and see if people like to come drink with The Kill.
