We are getting close to the end of 2009. We've played many shows this year, from local festivals, state fairs, local fairs, parties and other events. 2009 was one of our busiest years to date. With most of the Stains having day jobs, it makes it difficult to play as much as we would like. But we played every opportunity that we could. We will try to be just as busy in 2010 if not more so.
Our schedule is filling up quick for 2010. Be sure to check back here, and also our website, frequently to find out where we will be next. We could be coming to your town soon. Everyone needs to " Get Stained".
Please note that some of the times on our schedule listed below are incorrect. We don't actually know the times yet on some of our shows but have to enter a time on myspace. So please double check the times for our show as we will update them as soon as we know the exact time.
Thanks
2009's trip to Fontana Village in Fontana, NC was awesome as usual. We've played Fontana 4 years now and they've asked us back next year. It's one of the best times of the year. The whole band couldn't go this year but we had Philip Poff fill in on some vocals and guitar and also Drew Williams sat in on fiddle and vocals. The show went really well. The folks that put on the clogging jamboree are some of the best people to work for. They are good friends of ours and we want to thank them for the opportunity to play for their event. Can't wait until next year.
The Oak Ridge Boys show went really well. The crowd was great and RD sang bass on an acapella gospel number for the first time in front of a big audience. We got to jam a little bit with Joe Bonsall. We got to play a little Salt Creek, with Joe on banjo, before our sound check. We also got to talk some with their band, all of which were super nice guys especially Chris Golden. We also got to take a group photo with the Oak Ridge Boys. They really put on a good show. We hope to work with them again some day.
Live on the Levee went well. It sprinkled on and off but the rain held off for the most part. I think there would have been a bigger crowd if it was a little warmer and not threatening to rain. But the crowd that was there was a great audience. There were several friends and family members that came out to support us as well. The sound crew did an awesom job. We hope to see you at the next Stains outing.
We are currently in the studio working on the second Grass Stains cd. We have many songs to choose from including several originals as well as some familiar rock songs and traditional bluegrass. We will be adding these songs to our setlist as we work them up so be sure and catch a performance near you to get a preview of the new cd.
Bills trip to The Purple Fiddle to hear the String Dusters was a good one. Some pic's of Bill in the clawfoot tub taking a bubble bath are floating around somewhere. The Stains played at the Fiddle on March 30 and are hoping to play their again later this year.
We have a cut from our Live performance at LCHS posted on the 'Here us Play' page of this web site. Give it a listen!
Well, 2007 Bagfest went off without a hitch. We had some good pickers show up and jam with us from the band Whitewater. Thanks Luke and David. Rodney Miles showed up with his mandolin and dobro. Also Philip Poff( ex member of the Stains) came by and set in with the band. We had a good time pickin'. Once again Mike Drumheller roasted the pig and it was awesome as always. Thanks Mike. The Green Valley Civic Club had a canopy set up for their designated area. And we played their theme song Green Valley Civic Club. All of the Grass Stains members weren't able to make the event but with the help of Lisa playing bass and all of our other guest musicians it went really well. I'm sure Bill and Debbie have a whole list of folks to thank for helping them pull off the pigroast and I don't have that list but I can mention a couple that i know played a big part. Thanks Tim and Vic.
Our 2007 trip to Fontana was awesome. We were treated like kings. The atmosphere, the fans, the food and the scenery were all great. We can't wait to go back next year. We'd like to thank John and Nancy for representing the Green Valley Civic Club on our road trip. That's a long drive but I think they had fun. I know we did.
