臺中人。致力於將長笛演奏、音樂教學以及推廣音樂至偏鄉,希望將音樂深入到台灣的每一個角落。演奏足跡遍佈美國、巴西、日本、韓國、香港、中國、新加坡等。
2012年獲得《Alexander & Buono International Flute Competition》第一名,在紐約卡內基音樂廳獨奏演出。2015年與萊辛頓愛樂協奏演出,接受先驅報(Lexington Herald-Leader)個人專訪。
樂團經歷豐富,2013-2016年為美國萊辛頓愛樂(Lexington Philharmonic)長笛首席,屢獲樂評讚賞。2017年受邀至廣州交響樂團六十週年音樂會,擔任長笛首席,世界首演潘德列茨基《第六號交響曲》,並參與北京國際音樂節。2018-2019年為深圳交響樂團客席長笛首席,2021年客席國家交響樂團長笛首席。多次參與世界華人樂團,擔任Taiwan Connection短笛手。
室內樂演出活躍,曾受邀至巴西里約熱內盧豎琴節,與福爾摩沙三重奏(Formosa Trio)在美國與亞洲巡迴,並受邀至第十三屆世界豎琴大會於香港、2023年美國豎琴年會在洛杉磯演出,此組合改編多首樂曲並發行專輯《First Impression》。近年與新加坡交響樂團長笛首席金塔組成Aureus Duo,在臺灣兩廳院、新加坡維多利亞音樂廳及青島國際長笛藝術節演出。與二比一三重奏(Trio 2:1)定期舉行年度音樂會,錄製專輯《十年》以及萬年曆專輯《花聲》。2024年推出女性作曲家系列長笛演奏專輯《AIR》
現任東海大學音樂系專任副教授,同時為國立臺北藝術大學、高雄師範大學音樂系兼任副教授,每年籌劃多項木管活動及大師班,109年獲得年度東海大學教學傑出獎殊榮。
Pei-San Chiu is an internationally acclaimed flutist from Taiwan who debuted at Carnegie Hall in 2012 as the first-prize winner of the Alexander & Buono International Flute Competition. She has performed across the United States, Brazil, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, China, and Singapore, showcasing her artistry in solo, chamber, and orchestral settings.
As an orchestral musician, Pei-San served as Principal Flute of the Lexington Philharmonic from 2013 to 2016, earning praise from the Lexington Herald-Leader for her “character and vitality,” and was hailed as the orchestra's “secret weapon” in Mahler's Symphony No. 2. She has also performed as Guest Principal Flute with the National Symphony Orchestra in Taiwan, the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, and the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, collaborating with esteemed conductors such as Lan Shui, Michael Gilbert, Naoto Otomo, and Lü Jia.
Pei-San is a passionate advocate for contemporary music, commissioning works that expand the flute repertoire. Her collaborations include Presque Noir by Bin Li (2019), Time Flies by Tsung-Jen Hsieh (2021), Fondue Petite by Mei-Chun Chen (2022), Hidden Grace by Zhou Tian (2023), and The Remnant Souls by Yu-Chun Hu (2024). These works have premiered at prestigious venues like Taiwan’s National Recital Hall, the University of North Texas, and the Colburn School.
As a chamber musician, Pei-San performs with the Formosa Trio, Aureus Duo, and Trio 2:1. She has toured extensively, premiering works by Asian composers and releasing albums such as First Impression, Ten Years, and The Sound of Flowers. Her dedication to chamber music has led to performances at major festivals, including the Rio Harp Festival, Music Masters Course Japan, Asia Flutists Federation, and the World Harp Congress.
In addition to her performance career, Pei-San is an Associate Professor of Flute at Tunghai University in Taiwan, where she has been on the faculty since 2016. She teaches flute, chamber music, woodwind literature, and pedagogy, receiving recognition with the 2020 Teaching Excellence Award and multiple Excellent Mentor Awards. With a Doctor of Music in Flute Performance from Indiana University, Pei-San is committed to shaping the next generation of musicians. She frequently presents masterclasses at institutions worldwide and organizes educational events such as the Tunghai University Woodwind Days and the Maestrio Formosa Flute Festival.
