When Crocell’s critically acclaimed debut album, ”The God We Drowned”, was released in November 2008, less than one and a half years had passed since the inception. But the band - counting members from Panzerchrist and Compos Mentis - was a focused unit and the results were not a long time coming. Thus, after only a few months Danishmetal.dk mentioned the band as one of the most promising underground bands at the same time that Crocell placed second at Aarhus’ Metal Royale Contest, which was the band’s first live concert. Several concerts followed and rave reviews began to pour in lauding the band for their raw energy, passion, technical proficiency and varied song writing. This recognition later manifested itself when Crocell won the prize as “metal talent of the year” at the Danish Metal Awards (DMeA) 2008, just prior to the release of “The God We Drowned”.
