Corinna Rose is the stage name of folk singer/songwriter Corey Gulkin. Based in Montreal, Roseʼs style is inspired by folk, pop and rock musicians including Kate & Anna McGarrigle, Weezer and Regina Spektor. Rose crafts songs that simultaneously capture the warmth, joy and darkness of the folk tradition, and her music is marked with heart-wrenching personal nuance. Wielding a banjo and guitar, she tells stories of nostalgia, the countryside and old friends.
Slated for release in August 2011, Corinna Rose recorded her debut self-titled EP this past year. Featuring musicians Matthew Daher (Drums), Leah Dolgoy (Autoharp), Nicolas Godmaire (Guitar) and Alex Leblanc (Bass), the EP includes 4 original, self-produced tracks.
Corinna Roseʼs original song, Green Mountain State, a song written for a previous project, The Rusty Horse Band, will be featured over the opening credits of Sarah Polleyʼs upcoming film Take This Waltz. The film stars Seth Rogan, Michelle Williams and Sarah Silverman. Corinna Rose will be performing at the release of the film at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.
In June 2010, Corinna Rose was chosen to be one of three musicians to perform on the official St. Ambroise stage at the Montreal Fringe Festival. Corinna Rose has also performed at the 2011 Dunham Folk and Wine Festival and will be performing at the Duckstock festival this August. She has performed with artists such as Mika Posen (of Timber Timbre), These United States, Matt Stern, The Youjsh, Armen at the Bazaar and Honeyman and the Brothers Farr.
