I’ve got to challenge myself
To be patient with your soul
While you are raging inside
I’ve got to temper the flame
Over and over and over again
I’ve got to balance the way
I make my point with how you
Take my words to mean the worst
It’s all I can do
Over and over and over again
But it’s too late to edit myself
Words are falling from my soul
And it’s too late to be who you want
These words have taken their toll
I’m not a sucker for the
Way you manipulate me
I have my own way to deal
You can’t stipulate the way I deal with being free
My tendency is to laugh
In the face of tyranny
Your words perpetuate hate
A juxtaposition for us, huh
Read the room before you speak
But it’s too late to edit myself
Words are falling from my soul
And it’s too late to be who you want
These words have taken their toll
