Tonight we'll float down the street
With moonlit shadows the shape of trees
The ground built of leaves now shatters
I guess then nothing matters
Tonight we'll float deeper in
So far underneath the light doesn't reach us
Where our thoughts scatter
With rain's soft pitter patter
Angel in the leaves
Late september
You don't remember
Paddling through the reeds
To an island somewhere
Might be nowhere
We trace these leaves to a tree
That takes root in our veins
It calls out for me
I fear to learn
that it's all in vain
