Remember when we moved from that old shack
When the praire soil became a cloud of dust
Pa said times were hard to hack
And living a life of death is unjust
We said goodbye to folks not wanting to leave
Packed up the Ford and headed due west
Pa said Ma is set to grieve
For Molly and me we had to leave the nest
Jus vagabonds under an open sky
When the roaring twenties came to an end
We said adieu then said hi
To the dirty thirties coming around the bend
The road is long and winding every mile
And freedom to wander eases repressed smiles
Our worries fade when resting beneath a shade tree
For Molly and me life rides easy in that old model T
Old Tom broke down close to nowhere
So we stayed put for twenty some odd years
Molly said old age is hard to bare
So we pulled up roots by-God and dried our tears
We worked hard to fix old Tom’s guts
Till Tom groaned and purred back from strife
We said goodbye to life’s bad ruts
And rode through our golden years of life
The road is long and winding every mile
And freedom to wander eases repressed smiles
Our worries fade when resting beneath a shade tree
For Molly and me life rides easy in that old model T
