BIOCambriana began in Goiânia (Brazil), late 2010, as a bedroom project. Inspired by artists as diverse as Brian Eno and The National, singer Luis Calil isolated himself and wrote the songs which would eventually become their debut record, HOUSE OF TOLERANCE. He later recruited two friends, guitarrists Israel Santiago and Rafael Morihisa, to help record and finish the album.TOLERANCE was released online in January 2012 and instantly caught the attention of every major alternative music blog and website in Brazil. By the end of the year, that album had become one of the big indie records of 2012, and the band appeared in several Album and Tracks of the Year lists, including Rolling Stone magazine’s.Three other musicians, Wassily Brasil, Pedro Falcão e Heloísa Cassimiro, renowned players in Goiânia, joined the band (for keys, bass and drums, respectively), and Cambriana toured throughout the year in various Brazilian cities, including major festivals like Canto da Primavera, in Pirenopolis and Vaca Amarela in Goiânia.Work started on their new EP, WORKER, in late July 2012, and it was finished by January 2013. Its release was covered in major newspapers in Brazil (such as O Globo) and widely acclaimed by the music press.Beats Per Minute, an international music website, had this to say about WORKER: “[It] marks a change for them: before they were bringing their songs together via the internet, but now they sound like a fully-fledged band, all playing in the same room. The title rings true, as everyone sounds like their putting the hours in. The songs here sound like a band rejuvenated and willing to tread into new territories.”
